The AMG GT family runs AMG's handcrafted M177 (GT, GT S, GT R, GT C) and M178 (GT 63 S) twin-turbo V8 engines — two of the best platforms for ECU tuning in the supercar market. From a conservative Stage 1 ECU-only tune to a full Stage 3 turbo upgrade like our YPG9XX package, the AMG GT has more headroom than almost any comparable car in its class.

M177 vs M178 — Tuning Differences
The M177 (GT, GT S, GT C, GT R) is a dry-sump 4.0L biturbo used in the coupe platform. It responds excellently to ECU tuning and downpipes. Stage 2 on the GT R brings it to ~710HP crank — approaching the theoretical limit without turbo hardware.
The M178 (GT 63 S 4-door) shares the same block architecture but is calibrated differently for the GT 63's weight and AWD system. It has more headroom above Stage 2 and is the basis for our YPG9XX Stage 3 turbo build.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the AMG GT R supported?
Yes. All AMG GT variants from 2015 onwards are supported — GT, GT S, GT C, GT R, and GT 63 S.
What does Stage 2 require on the AMG GT?
Stage 2 requires catless downpipes. The ECU file is written specifically for the downpipe flow characteristics. Running Stage 2 software on stock exhaust will not produce Stage 2 results.
What is the YPG9XX?
The YPG9XX is our Stage 3 turbo upgrade package for the AMG GT S. It uses Stage 3 turbos on the M178 engine to produce 9XX HP crank — beyond what any ECU tune alone can achieve.
Can I get the YPG750 tune?
The YPG750 is our development specification for the AMG GT R. Stage 2 ECU tune clients on the GT R achieve comparable results. Contact us to discuss your specific car.
