YPG750 Mercedes-AMG GT R — Track Development at Kuwait Motor Town

Build Story and Development Log — by YPG Motorsport

The YPG750 AMG GT R is our development and reference vehicle — the platform we use to validate ECU calibrations, test hardware combinations, and push the M177 engine to its practical limit before shipping calibrations to clients. This article covers the build specification, development process, and what track testing at Kuwait Motor Town (FIA Grade 2) taught us about the AMG GT R's actual limits.

Build Specification — YPG750

Component Specification
Base vehicle Mercedes-AMG GT R (C190), M177 4.0L biturbo V8
ECU calibration YPG Stage 2 — custom calibration developed in-house
Exhaust Catless downpipes — YPG specification
Power output 750 HP crank (Stage 2 ECU + catless downpipes)
Track Kuwait Motor Town, FIA Grade 2 circuit

ECU Calibration Development

The YPG750 calibration was developed over multiple track sessions at Kuwait Motor Town. The goal was not maximum power in ideal conditions — it was consistent, repeatable power delivery in GCC ambient conditions (45–55°C), under sustained track load, without exceeding engine safety margins.

  • Boost pressure targets — increased across the full RPM range, with soft limits on boost reduction above oil temperature thresholds
  • Ignition timing — advanced throughout, calibrated per-cylinder for GCC 98 RON fuel
  • Thermal management — factory cooling fan strategy recalibrated to reduce power loss during sustained high-load sections
  • Throttle maps — sharpened in Sport and Sport+ modes; Race mode calibration adjusted for track entry

Kuwait Motor Town — Testing Environment

Kuwait Motor Town is the GCC's only FIA Grade 2 homologated circuit. It's also the site of our world record: the first 9-second quarter mile by a W205 Mercedes-AMG C63, the first 9-second run by an M177-family engine in the GCC.

Gulf ambient temperature at track level during summer sessions exceeds 50°C — conditions that reveal thermal management issues in ways a European dyno test never will.

What the YPG750 Means for Client Calibrations

The YPG750 is not a customer-spec build — it's a reference platform. The calibration knowledge developed on this car directly informs the Stage 2 files we ship to AMG GT R clients in Kuwait, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Bahrain, and Oman. When a GCC client receives a YPG Stage 2 calibration, the baseline data behind that file was validated in the same ambient conditions they'll be driving in.

This is what separates a GCC-calibrated tune from a European file dropped on a car in the Gulf: the thermal strategy, fuel compensation, and boost pressure targets are all calibrated for the environment the car will actually be used in.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I get the YPG750 tune on my AMG GT R?
Yes. The YPG750 calibration is our Stage 2 specification for the AMG GT R. Contact us to confirm your car's current specification and stage compatibility.

What is the YPG9XX?
The YPG9XX is our next-level build — Stage 3 turbos on the M178 AMG GT S platform, producing 9XX HP crank. View the YPG9XX package →

Is Kuwait Motor Town open to the public?
Kuwait Motor Town hosts public track days and time attack events. Contact the circuit directly for session schedules.

What is the world record you mention?
YPG Motorsport holds the GCC record for the first 9-second quarter mile by a W205 Mercedes-AMG C63 (M177 engine), set at Kuwait Motor Town.
