Mercedes-AMG E63 Stage 3 Turbo Upgrade — W213 M177 Twin-Scroll
The YPG Motorsport Stage 3 turbo upgrade for the Mercedes-AMG E63 and E63 S (W213) is engineered specifically for the W213's twin-scroll turbocharger architecture. Unlike the C63 and GLC63 which use single-scroll M177 turbos, the E63 uses a divided twin-scroll turbine housing with separated exhaust pulse streams — this requires a matched turbine wheel geometry and upgraded bearing cartridge that cannot be interchanged with C63/GLC63 kits.
This is not a universal M177 turbo upgrade. It is a platform-specific kit built around the W213 twin-scroll setup, delivering 800 to 900+ HP depending on supporting modifications and ECU calibration.
What's Included
- 2x Upgraded turbochargers — complete drop-in units matched to the W213 twin-scroll housing
- Twin-scroll specific turbine wheels — Inconel alloy, matched to the W213 divided housing geometry. Not interchangeable with C63/GLC63 single-scroll units
- Billet compressor wheels — CNC-machined from forged 2618 aluminium, optimised blade geometry for higher mass airflow
- Upgraded bearing cartridge — spec'd for twin-scroll pulse separation and sustained high-boost loads
- Ceramic-coated housings — thermal barrier coating reduces underhood heat soak. Critical in GCC ambient temperatures exceeding 45°C
- New gaskets and hardware — everything needed for installation
Power Targets by Configuration
| Configuration | Estimated Output | Supporting Mods |
|---|---|---|
| Stage 3 + ECU (pump fuel) | 750–800 HP | Downpipes, tune, plugs |
| Stage 3 + Full Supporting Mods | 850–900+ HP | + intakes, intercooler, WMI |
| Stage 3 + Forged + E85 | 900–1,000+ HP | Forged internals, fuel system, E85 cal |
Vehicle Fitment
| Model | Chassis | Years | Engine |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mercedes-AMG E63 | W213 Sedan | 2017–2023 | M177 4.0T V8 |
| Mercedes-AMG E63 S | W213 Sedan | 2017–2023 | M177 4.0T V8 |
| Mercedes-AMG E63 S Wagon | S213 | 2017–2023 | M177 4.0T V8 |
This listing is for the E63 W213 platform only. Stage 3 turbo upgrades for the C63 W205, GLC63, and GT63 are available separately — the turbo hardware is platform-specific.
Required Supporting Modifications
- Catless downpipes — mandatory for full power extraction
- Stage 3 ECU calibration — remaps boost targets, fuelling, ignition timing, and wastegate control for the twin-scroll setup
- Upgraded spark plugs — colder heat range for higher cylinder pressures
- Upgraded intercooler — recommended above 800 HP, especially in hot climates
- TCU tune — optimises the 9G-Tronic MCT for higher torque. The E63 S 4MATIC+ drivetrain handles power well but benefits from recalibrated shift points and line pressure
- Forged internals — recommended above 850 HP. M177 crate engine builds available rated to 1,500 HP
E63 vs C63 Stage 3 — Key Differences
The E63 S produces 603 HP from the factory vs the C63 S at 503 HP. The E63 starts with higher factory boost, better cooling (larger radiator, dual intercoolers), and the 4MATIC+ AWD system — making it the faster platform in a straight line. The twin-scroll turbo setup also makes more efficient use of exhaust energy. The trade-off: the E63's twin-scroll turbos require a platform-specific Stage 3 kit at a marginally higher cost than the C63 single-scroll setup.
Installation
Bolt-on replacement. Factory mounting points, oil/coolant lines, and wastegate actuators retained. No fabrication required. Estimated 10–14 hours at a competent independent shop. The W213 hot-V layout is similar to the W205 but the E63's engine bay has more room to work.
No core exchange required. You keep your factory turbochargers.
