Why Downpipes Are Mandatory for Stage 2
A Stage 2 ECU calibration raises boost targets beyond what the factory exhaust can safely flow. Without downpipes, the turbos fight increased backpressure — raising exhaust gas temperatures, slowing spool, and leaving power on the table. Downpipes are the hardware prerequisite. Catless: Maximum airflow, loudest exhaust note, lowest cost. Requires Stage 2 ECU with rear O2 delete to avoid check engine light. Best for GCC owners (no emissions testing) and dedicated track cars.
200-Cell High-Flow Catted: Retains 90%+ of catless flow with a deeper, more refined exhaust note and significantly reduced sulfur smell. Still requires ECU calibration for optimal results but produces fewer CEL issues on some configurations.
