The BMW G87 M2 is powered by the S58 3.0-litre twin-turbo inline-six — the same engine found in the G80 M3 and G82 M4. With 460 HP stock (detuned from the M3/M4's 480–510 HP), the M2 has even more headroom for ECU tuning relative to its factory output.

Stage 1 — 560 HP, Software Only
The M2 uses the same S58 engine as the M3/M4 but is factory-detuned by 20–50 HP. A Stage 1 tune brings it to the same output level as a tuned M3 Competition — approximately 100 HP over stock. The S58's closed-deck block and forged internals handle the additional boost with ease. At 560 HP, the M2 G87 becomes the definitive lightweight BMW weapon.
Stage 2 — 620 HP with Downpipes
Stage 2 adds catless downpipes and an upgraded charge pipe. The reduced backpressure allows the S58's turbos to sustain higher boost deeper into the rev range. At ~620 HP in a compact 1,660 kg chassis, the M2 G87 has one of the highest power-to-weight ratios in its class — faster than a stock M3/M4 while being shorter, lighter, and more agile.
