What Is the EA888? The EA888 is the Volkswagen Auto Group's most prolific turbocharged four-cylinder engine platform — and the single most tuned engine in the entire VAG ecosystem. Produced since 2008 and still going strong in 2026, this 2.0-litre TFSI/TSI powerplant underpins everything from the daily-driven VW Golf GTI to the track-weapon Audi S3, plus Seat, Cupra and Skoda performance models worldwide.
