What Is Dyno Tuning?
Dyno tuning is the process of measuring and optimizing a vehicle's power output on a dynamometer — a machine that applies load to the wheels (chassis dyno) or directly to the hub (hub dyno) while recording horsepower, torque, air-fuel ratio, and boost pressure in real time. It's both a diagnostic tool and a calibration environment: the tuner can safely run the engine at full load, observe data, and refine the ECU calibration on the spot.

Dyno Tuning vs Remote Tuning
Dyno tuning requires physical access to the car and a dyno facility. Remote ECU tuning — the method YPG Motorsport uses for most customers worldwide — delivers the calibration file over the internet. The customer flashes it via OBD or bench, then provides datalogs from real-world driving. The tuner iterates on those logs until the calibration is dialed in. Both methods produce excellent results; remote tuning simply removes the geographic limitation.
WHP vs Crank HP
A chassis dyno measures wheel horsepower (WHP) — the power actually reaching the wheels after drivetrain losses (typically 12–18% for RWD, 18–25% for AWD). Crank horsepower is an estimate calculated by adding those losses back. What a Dyno Chart Shows
A dyno chart (or dyno plot) shows horsepower and torque curves across the RPM range.
