Mercedes-AMG M157
Performance Parts & Internals
Forged internals, downpipes, ECU calibrations, and high-flow intake components for the AMG M157 5.5L twin-turbo V8. Trusted by GCC owners of S63, G63, E63, ML63, GL63, CLS63, and SL63.
Engine Overview — AMG M157 5.5L BiTurbo
The Mercedes-AMG M157 is a 5.5-litre twin-turbocharged V8 produced from 2011 to 2017. It replaced the naturally-aspirated M156 and introduced direct injection, twin-scroll turbos, and AMG's cylinder deactivation system — producing between 518HP in base S63 trim and 577HP in the later AMG S models.
Fitted across the widest AMG lineup in history, the M157 powers everything from the W222 S63 and W463 G63 to the X166 GL63, W166 ML63, and C218 CLS63. In GCC markets the G63 and S63 variants dominate — both heavy vehicles where the M157 runs hot and at elevated boost under load.

M157 Forged Internals
The M157's stock internals are adequate at factory boost levels but begin to approach their limits under sustained high-boost or high-power builds. For Stage 3+ builds targeting 700HP and beyond, upgrading to forged pistons and billet connecting rods is essential for long-term reliability.
YPG Motorsport stocks complete forged rod and piston kits for the M157 — the same components used in our high-output builds. Available for immediate order with worldwide FedEx shipping.
M157 Downpipes
Catless downpipes are the single most impactful bolt-on for the M157. Removing the catalytic converters eliminates the primary exhaust restriction, unlocking significant power gains on their own and serving as the foundation for any ECU tune. YPG downpipes are mandrel-bent stainless steel, CNC-flanged for OEM fitment.
M157 ECU Calibrations
Stage 2 ECU calibrations for the M157 delivered via YPG Flash — our remote programming service. No dyno visit required. Targets raised boost pressure, optimized ignition timing, and revised fuel mapping for maximum power on pump fuel. Available for G63, S63, E63, ML63, CLS63, and SL63.

Frequently Asked Questions
How much power can the M157 make on Stage 2?
With catless downpipes and a Stage 2 ECU calibration, the M157 typically produces 650–720HP at the crank depending on the specific variant. The higher-output S-model units (577HP factory) respond especially well, often hitting 700HP+ on pump fuel with no hardware changes beyond downpipes.
What does the M157 forged internals kit include?
Our M157 forged kit includes billet connecting rods and forged pistons to replace the OEM cast components. These are the components that become the limiting factor at 700HP+, particularly under sustained boost in high-ambient-temperature environments like the GCC.
Do I need downpipes before ECU tuning the M157?
Not strictly required — Stage 1 and Stage 2 tunes are available for stock exhaust configurations. However, the biggest gains come from combining catless downpipes with a tune. The downpipes reduce exhaust backpressure, allowing the ECU to run more aggressive boost targets safely.
Does YPG ship M157 parts to Saudi Arabia, UAE, and Qatar?
Yes. All M157 parts ship worldwide via FedEx International Priority. GCC delivery is typically 3–5 business days from dispatch. We handle customs documentation. Contact us via WhatsApp for a shipping quote to your location.
What is the difference between the M157 and M177?
The M157 is the 5.5L twin-turbo V8 (2011–2017), found in the previous generation AMG lineup. The M177 is the newer 4.0L twin-turbo V8 (2015–present), used in the C63, E63, and GT S. The M177 is a completely different architecture — parts, tunes, and internals are not interchangeable.
