The Mercedes-AMG CLA45, A45, and GLA45 with the M133 2.0L turbocharged four-cylinder are some of the most underrated performance platforms in the GCC. The M133 holds the record for the world's most powerful production four-cylinder engine at 360–381 HP stock, and its tuning potential is extraordinary — Stage 4 builds with full forged internals and a single large turbo are capable of well over 700 HP from a 2.0L engine. YPG Motorsport tunes all M133 platforms across the CLA45, A45, and GLA45.
M133 Factory Power by Variant
- CLA45 AMG / A45 AMG (pre-2019): 360–381 HP / 450 Nm
- A45 S AMG (W177, 2019+): 421 HP / 500 Nm (M139 engine — contact YPG separately)
Stage 1 — YPG Flash Remote
Stage 1 ECU calibration via YPG Flash remote — no hardware required, OBD-based.
- CLA45 / A45 Stage 1: 410–430 HP / +50–70 HP
- Torque: 530–550 Nm / +80–100 Nm
- Sharper throttle response and improved boost delivery from 2,000 RPM
- More dramatic in-gear acceleration — the M133 at Stage 1 feels meaningfully faster than stock in real-world driving
Stage 2 — ECU + Catless Downpipe + Intake
- Power: 470–500 HP
- Torque: 580–620 Nm
- Single catless downpipe on the M133 four-cylinder significantly reduces exhaust backpressure and improves spool time
- The M133 with catless downpipe has a notably more characterful sound — the turbocharged four-cylinder develops a distinct character that the factory exhaust suppresses
Stage 3 — Upgraded Turbo
Stage 3 on the M133 involves upgrading to a larger single turbocharger — the factory twin-scroll turbo is replaced with a high-flow unit capable of supporting substantially more air volume. Stage 3 requires upgraded fuel system (port injection conversion or supplemental injectors), full supporting calibration via bench ECU, and typically an intercooler upgrade.

Stage 4 — Full Forged Build
The M133 at Stage 4 with forged pistons, rods, crankshaft, upgraded turbocharger, full fuel system, and bench calibration is one of the most power-dense builds available — over 700 HP from a 2.0L displacement is achievable and has been built by YPG. Contact us for Stage 4 M133 build consultation.
GCC Calibration Notes
The M133 is sensitive to fuel octane — being a highly boosted four-cylinder, it is more susceptible to detonation than multi-cylinder engines with inherent firing order advantages. YPG GCC calibrations for the M133 are conservatively timed for 91–95 RON fuel availability and calibrated with IAT compensation for Gulf heat.
