McLaren 570S & 650S ECU Tuning — Stage 1, 2 & Power Gains | YPG Motorsport

The McLaren 570S and 650S with the M838T twin-turbo 3.8L V8 are some of the most rewarding exotic car tuning platforms available. The M838T — an evolution of the engine that powered McLaren's Formula 1 and GT3 programs — is conservatively calibrated in road-car form, leaving meaningful headroom for ECU calibration and exhaust upgrades. YPG Motorsport tunes both platforms for GCC and international customers.

Factory Specs

  • McLaren 570S: 562 HP / 600 Nm — 0–100 km/h 3.2 seconds
  • McLaren 650S: 641 HP / 678 Nm — 0–100 km/h 3.0 seconds
  • Engine: M838T 3.8L twin-turbo V8 (dry-sump, mid-mounted)
  • Transmission: 7-speed SSG dual-clutch

Stage 1 — ECU Tune

Stage 1 calibration method (OBD or bench) depends on the specific ECU variant. YPG will confirm for your chassis after contact.

  • 570S Stage 1: 620–640 HP / +58–78 HP
  • 650S Stage 1: 710–730 HP / +69–89 HP
  • Sharper SSG shift response and improved mid-range delivery
  • More aggressive boost from 2,500 RPM

Stage 2 — ECU + Catless Race Downpipes + Intake

Stage 2 pairs the calibration with catless race downpipes — McLaren's factory downpipes contain twin catalytic converters that are a significant restriction. Combined with an Eventuri intake and the recalibrated ECU, Stage 2 delivers substantial power gains and transforms the M838T's sound character.

  • 570S Stage 2: 680–720 HP / +118–158 HP over stock
  • 650S Stage 2: 760–800 HP / +119–159 HP over stock
  • Sound: the M838T flat-plane V8 through catless downpipes is one of the most distinctive exhaust notes available in the exotic market

GCC Calibration Notes

The M838T is sensitive to IAT — the mid-engine layout and relatively confined engine bay mean heat soak is significant in GCC summer. YPG's McLaren calibrations include specific IAT-based boost compensation tables that protect the engine under sustained high-load driving in Gulf heat while maintaining power delivery when temperatures are within range.

Pricing

  • Stage 1 ECU: From $799 USD
  • Stage 2 calibration: From $1,099 USD (parts separate)
