YPG Motorsport supplies and installs forged internal engine components for Stage 3 and Stage 4 performance builds on AMG, BMW M, and exotic car platforms. Forged internals are the foundation of any serious high-power build — they are what separates a 700 HP daily driver from a 1,000+ HP engine that runs reliably under sustained load at Kuwait Motor Town or on a long GCC motorway run.

What Are Forged Internals?

Factory engines use cast components — pistons, connecting rods, and crankshafts that are formed by pouring molten metal into a mold. Cast components are cost-effective and sufficient for factory power levels and normal use. Forged components are created by pressing metal under extreme pressure, aligning the grain structure directionally — the result is substantially stronger, denser, and more fatigue-resistant material that can withstand the elevated cylinder pressures, temperatures, and RPM loads of high-power builds.

Forged Pistons

Forged pistons are the primary internal upgrade for any high-power turbocharged build. They are machined from billet 2618 or 4032 alloy aluminum, with custom crown designs to match the target compression ratio of the build and feature reinforced ring lands and pin bores that can withstand substantially higher cylinder pressures than factory cast pistons.

  • Custom compression ratio — typically lower than factory (7.5:1–8.0:1) for elevated boost applications
  • Coated skirts to reduce friction and improve oil retention
  • Thermal barrier coatings on crown available for extreme heat applications
  • Available for AMG M177, M178, M156, M157; BMW S55, S58, S63, S85; and select exotic platforms

Forged Connecting Rods

Connecting rods transmit the explosive force of combustion from the piston to the crankshaft. Factory rods are adequate to moderate power increases — but under sustained high-boost, high-RPM conditions they can develop fatigue fractures. Forged H-beam rods in 4340 chromoly steel provide significantly higher tensile strength and fatigue resistance.

  • Available in standard and stroked configurations for displacement-increased builds

Forged Crankshaft

The crankshaft is the last upgrade needed in most builds — factory cranks on the AMG M177/M178 and BMW S58 are adequate to approximately 900–1,000 HP in normal conditions. Forged crankshafts are specified for builds targeting maximum power output or engines that will see sustained track use at power levels above 850 HP.

When Are Forged Internals Required?

  • Stage 3 builds targeting 800+ HP — recommended
  • Stage 4 builds targeting 1,000+ HP — mandatory
  • Track cars with sustained high-RPM high-boost usage — recommended regardless of power level
  • Older high-mileage engines being rebuilt for a power build — recommended as part of the rebuild
