200-Cell High-Flow Catalytic Converters

200-cell sport cats use a much less dense substrate than the factory 600-800 cell units. They still provide substantial flow improvement — typically recovering 85-90% of the gains versus catless — while eliminating the sulphur smell and reducing the chance of triggering a check engine light on some ECU calibrations.

For street-driven C63s in regions with emissions testing (Europe, parts of the US, Australia), 200-cell cats are the practical choice. Power difference versus catless is approximately 5-10 HP — negligible for most owners. Sound is still significantly more aggressive than stock, just marginally quieter than catless.

Real-World Power Gains — C63 Downpipes + Stage 2 Tune

Downpipes alone — without a supporting ECU calibration — deliver modest gains of approximately 15-25 HP. The engine management system cannot take full advantage of the reduced backpressure because it's still running the factory boost map, fueling strategy, and ignition timing.

The real power comes when you pair downpipes with a Stage 2 ECU calibration. The Stage 2 tune is specifically mapped to exploit the reduced backpressure: higher boost targets, revised fueling, optimized ignition timing, and removal of the rear O2 sensor monitoring that would otherwise trigger a CEL.

C63 (non-S, 469 HP stock): Stage 2 with downpipes: 600-650 HP / 650-700 lb-ft

C63 S (503 HP stock): Stage 2 with downpipes: 650-700 HP / 700-750 lb-ft
