Why Upgrade Downpipes on the BMW X5M / X6M?
The F95 X5M and F96 X6M pack BMW’s S63TU twin-turbo 4.4L V8 producing 600–617 HP from the factory. The OEM downpipes use two close-coupled catalytic converters that create significant back-pressure. Installation & Fitment
The S63TU uses two downpipes — one per turbo bank. Aftermarket units are direct bolt-in replacements using V-band clamps at the turbo and flanges to the midpipe. O2 sensor bungs are pre-welded. Installation takes 3–5 hours on a lift due to the SUV’s higher ground clearance and heat shielding.
