The Porsche 992 Turbo S produces 640 HP and 590 lb-ft from its 3.8-litre twin-turbo flat-six. It is one of the fastest production cars ever made — 0–60 in 2.6 seconds, quarter mile in 10.1 seconds from factory. Despite these numbers, the 992 Turbo S responds dramatically to ECU calibration. The factory calibration is conservative by design, with significant headroom in boost pressure, ignition timing, and torque delivery.
What Is ECU Tuning on the 992 Turbo S?
ECU tuning recalibrates the engine management software to optimise boost targets, ignition advance, fuelling maps, variable turbine geometry (VTG) control, and torque limiters. Stage 1 — Stock Hardware, Custom Calibration
A Stage 1 tune on the 992 Turbo S works with completely stock hardware. No exhaust modifications, no intake changes, no intercooler upgrades required. YPG recalibrates boost pressure, ignition timing, VTG turbo control, and PDK shift calibration within the factory hardware's safe operating envelope.
Typical Stage 1 gains (992 Turbo S):

The gains on the 992 Turbo S are substantial because Porsche's VTG turbos have significant headroom beyond factory boost targets. The result is noticeably stronger acceleration from 60 MPH through to top speed, sharper throttle response, and more aggressive PDK shift behaviour.
Stage 2 — Exhaust + Tune
Stage 2 adds aftermarket sport exhaust components — typically sport catalytic converters or catless downpipes. On the 992 Turbo S, the factory catalytic converters and GPF (gasoline particulate filter) create meaningful back pressure that limits turbo efficiency at higher boost levels.
Required hardware for Stage 2:
Sport cat or catless exhaust components (Fabspeed, Capristo, or equivalent) and a Stage 2 ECU calibration matched to the reduced exhaust restriction.
Typical Stage 2 gains:
Stage 2: approximately 780–830 HP / 740–780 lb-ft
At this power level, the 992 Turbo S becomes a genuinely different car. The acceleration is violent — mid-9-second quarter miles are achievable on pump fuel with an experienced driver and proper launch technique.
ECU Unlock — Bosch MG1CP007
The 992 Turbo S uses the Bosch MG1CP007 ECU, which requires an unlock procedure before custom calibration can be flashed. YPG Motorsport handles Porsche ECU unlocking in-house. Your ECU is shipped to us in Kuwait, unlocked, calibrated, and returned. The unlock is a one-time procedure and is required for both Stage 1 and Stage 2.

992 Turbo vs 992 Turbo S — What Is the Difference for Tuning?
The 992 Turbo produces 572 HP and 553 lb-ft from factory — 68 HP and 37 lb-ft less than the Turbo S. The Turbo S uses larger turbos, a different intake system, and more aggressive factory calibration. Both respond well to ECU tuning, but the Turbo S has higher peak potential due to its larger turbine wheels. The 992 Turbo can be calibrated to match or exceed Turbo S factory output, while the Turbo S pulls ahead with supporting hardware at Stage 2 and beyond.
GCC Fuel and Climate Considerations
The 992 Turbo S runs well on 95 RON fuel (standard GCC pump fuel) with a Stage 1 calibration. For Stage 2 and above, 98 RON or higher is recommended for optimal knock margin and sustained power delivery.
GCC temperatures regularly exceed 45–50°C in summer months. The 992 Turbo S handles heat reasonably well thanks to its water-to-air intercooler system, but sustained high-load driving in extreme heat requires calibration that accounts for elevated charge air temperatures. YPG calibrations are specifically built for GCC conditions — not adapted from European or US base files.
