M177 4.0L Twin-Turbo V8 — Model Guides
The M177 is AMG's most widely used performance engine — a hand-built 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 found in everything from the C63 to the GLS63. Every M177 responds dramatically to ECU tuning, with Stage 1 gains of 80–100+ HP from software alone.

M178 4.0L Twin-Turbo V8 — AMG GT Sports Car
The M178 is the dry-sump, twin-scroll variant of the 4.0L V8 built exclusively for the AMG GT platform. Higher-revving and track-focused.
