BMW G8X M3, M4 & M2 Race Chip Tuning Guide — 650HP S58 Plug-and-Play (2026)

The S58: BMW's Best Inline-6 Ever Made

The BMW G80 M3, G82 M4, and G87 M2 are powered by the S58 — a 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged inline-6 producing 473 HP (standard) or 503 HP (Competition). BMW's approach mirrors Mercedes: one engine, multiple power levels, differentiated primarily by software. The headroom for tuning is substantial.

YPG G8X Race Chip — 650 HP Plug-and-Play

The YPG Race Chip for the BMW G8X platform intercepts and optimizes engine sensor signals without modifying the factory ECU.

  • M3/M4 Competition (503 HP stock): Race Chip output: ~650 HP / 740 NM. Gain: +147 HP.
  • Standard M3/M4 (473 HP stock): Race Chip output: ~620–640 HP / 720 NM.
  • G87 M2 (453 HP stock): Race Chip output: ~600–620 HP / 700 NM.

Installation: 30–45 minutes, plug-and-play, no ECU modification, completely reversible, undetectable by BMW diagnostic tools.

Race Chip + Downpipes

Race Chip + catless/high-flow downpipes: estimated combined output 680–700 HP. The S58's factory catalytic converters are a meaningful restriction under high boost. YPG also carries F80 M3 and F82 M4 catless downpipes for the S55 platform.

GCC Notes

98 RON standard across the GCC. The Race Chip calibration is optimized for 98 RON. The S58's intercooler handles heat better than the S55 but still heat-soaks after sustained aggressive driving in 40°C+ conditions — the Race Chip includes thermal protection. See guides for Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and UAE.
