BMW M5 F90 Tuning Guide — Race Chip, Catless Downpipes & 800HP Stage 2 Build (2026)
The S63TU V8 — BMW's Most Tuneable Engine
The BMW F90 M5 and M5 Competition use the S63B44T4 — a 4.4-liter twin-turbocharged V8 producing 600 HP (standard) or 625 HP (Competition) from the factory. BMW leaves substantial headroom in the calibration: more boost is available, fueling has margin, and torque management is among the most conservative in the segment.
YPG Race Chip — Plug-and-Play Power
The YPG Race Chip for the BMW M5 F90 is a plug-and-play module that intercepts and optimizes sensor signals without modifying the factory ECU. Increases effective boost, adjusts fueling, removes conservative torque limitations.
- Output with Race Chip: approximately 740 HP / 900 NM (+115 HP / +150 NM over Competition)
- Install time: approximately 30 minutes
- Completely reversible — unplug and the car is factory-stock
- Undetectable by BMW dealer diagnostic tools
Race Chip + Catless Downpipes — Stage 2 Equivalent
The YPG F90 M5 catless downpipes eliminate the primary exhaust restriction. Combined with the Race Chip: approximately 770–800 HP / 950–1,000 NM. Quarter mile: low-10-second range. 0–100 km/h: mid-2-second range.
GCC-Specific Considerations
98 RON is standard across the GCC and ideal for all F90 M5 tuning stages. Most GCC-delivered F90 M5s do not have OPF — catless downpipe installation is straightforward. The Race Chip includes thermal protection that adjusts output when intake temps are elevated in 40°C+ ambient conditions.
