Over the past 15 years we have tuned thousands of vehicles across the GCC region and worldwide, from street-driven exotics to track-prepared machines lapping Motor Town. This calibration is the result of that experience applied to the Maserati Levante platform.
What Stage 2 Includes
Stage 2 is a full ECU recalibration designed for vehicles running aftermarket downpipes. Removes OEM exhaust backpressure limitations and unlocks the additional airflow capacity. Fuel maps, boost targets, ignition timing, and throttle response are recalibrated to extract every horsepower the hardware supports. Requires catless or high-flow catted downpipes.
What Gets Recalibrated
- Boost pressure targets — raised beyond Stage 1 levels to take full advantage of the reduced exhaust backpressure from aftermarket downpipes.
- Fuel maps — air-fuel ratios re-optimised across the entire load and RPM range to match the increased airflow through the exhaust system.
- Ignition timing — advanced further than Stage 1, utilising the additional knock margin created by improved exhaust scavenging.
- Throttle response — pedal mapping sharpened to match the increased output and deliver immediate response across the rev range.
- Exhaust backpressure compensation — factory exhaust backpressure tables removed, eliminating the power ceiling imposed by the OEM catalytic converters.
- Rev limiter — raised to extend the usable powerband on applicable variants.
- Speed limiter — removed where applicable.
- CEL suppression — downstream O2 sensor codes suppressed to prevent check engine lights caused by aftermarket downpipes.

For customers running E85, 100-octane race fuel, or Sunoco blends, YPG offers a dedicated race fuel calibration as a paid upgrade. Frequently Asked Questions
What downpipes do I need for Stage 2?
Stage 2 requires catless or high-flow catted downpipes. For the Levante S (3.0T V6), we recommend the YPG Motorsport Levante Race Downpipes. For the Levante GTS and Trofeo (3.8T V8), we recommend the FI Exhaust Catless Downpipes. Both are available in our shop and are the exact hardware this calibration was developed on.
Can I run Stage 2 on stock downpipes?
No. Stage 2 is specifically calibrated for the reduced exhaust backpressure provided by aftermarket downpipes. Running Stage 2 on stock downpipes will not deliver the advertised gains and may cause driveability issues. If your Levante is still on stock exhaust, start with our Stage 1 tune instead.
Will Stage 2 trigger a check engine light?
No. The Stage 2 calibration includes suppression of downstream O2 sensor diagnostic codes that would otherwise be triggered by the removal of the factory catalytic converters. Your dashboard will remain clear.
What fuel octane does Stage 2 require?
Stage 2 is calibrated for premium pump fuel — 95 RON minimum, 98 RON recommended. In the GCC region, Super 98 is widely available and is the recommended fuel. For customers running E85 or 100-octane race fuel, we offer a dedicated race fuel calibration as a paid upgrade for even higher output.
I already have a Stage 1 tune from YPG. How do I upgrade to Stage 2?
Install your aftermarket downpipes and contact us. Your existing YPG Flash device stays linked to your VIN — we will deliver your Stage 2 calibration through the same device. You only pay the difference between Stage 1 and Stage 2 pricing.
Is Stage 2 safe for daily driving in Gulf summer heat?
Yes. All YPG calibrations are developed with GCC climate conditions in mind — high ambient temperatures, humidity, and fuel quality variations. OEM safety protections including knock detection, thermal management, and diagnostic monitoring remain fully active. Stage 2 adds more power but does not compromise reliability when paired with the correct hardware.
How much louder will my Levante be with Stage 2 and downpipes?
Significantly louder. Aftermarket downpipes remove the factory catalytic converters, which are a major source of exhaust restriction and sound dampening. Expect a deeper, more aggressive exhaust note at idle and under load. Pair with the FI Exhaust Valvetronic system for volume control via remote valve operation.
Can I revert to stock after installing Stage 2?
The ECU calibration can be reverted to your original factory map at any time using the YPG Flash device. However, your aftermarket downpipes are a physical modification — you would need to reinstall the factory exhaust components to return to a fully stock configuration.
