Ferrari 488 GTB Stage 2 Tune — Exact HP Gains, Dyno Results & Full Build Guide (2026)

Ferrari 488 GTB Stage 2 Tune — HP Gains and Dyno Results

2026 Update — by YPG Motorsport

The Ferrari 488 GTB is one of the most tunable turbocharged Ferrari platforms ever produced. The F154 3.9-litre twin-turbo V8 produces 660HP stock — but with the right combination of catless downpipes and a properly calibrated ECU tune, Stage 2 pushes the 488 GTB past 750HP crank on 98 RON pump fuel. No internal engine modifications required.

Stage 1 vs Stage 2 — Power Figures

Stage HP (crank) Torque Requirements
Stock 660 HP 760 Nm
Stage 1 710 HP 830 Nm ECU only
Stage 2 760 HP 900 Nm Catless downpipes + ECU

Crank figures on 95–98 RON GCC fuel. Results vary by vehicle condition.

What Stage 2 Requires

Stage 2 is not just an ECU flash. The power gain comes from increased boost pressure that the factory exhaust system cannot efficiently flow — catless downpipes are required to allow the turbos to spool freely at the higher boost targets. Running Stage 2 software on a stock exhaust produces diminishing returns and higher exhaust temperatures.

Recommended Stage 2 hardware for the 488 GTB:

  • Catless downpipes — Capristo or equivalent. Removes factory catalytic converters. Mandatory for Stage 2.
  • High-flow air filters — stock airbox is adequate for Stage 2 but upgraded filters help at the top end
  • Stage 2 ECU calibration — written for the specific downpipe flow and GCC fuel grade

GCC Fuel and Climate Notes

GCC pump fuel grades (95–98 RON) are well-suited to the 488's Stage 2 calibration. The bigger variable is ambient temperature. YPG Motorsport calibrates all 488 files for GCC summer conditions — 45–55°C ambient — not European baseline data. The stock Ferrari ECU is aggressive about thermal protection in heat; our calibration corrects the thermal management strategy without sacrificing engine safety margins.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Stage 2 affect Ferrari service history?
An ECU tune modifies factory software. This will be detectable by a Ferrari dealer during service. Calibration can be reversed before service if needed — contact us.

Is the 488 Spider the same process?
Yes. 488 GTB and Spider share the same F154 engine and ECU. The flash process and power figures are identical.

Can the ECU be returned to stock?
Yes. We retain the original calibration file and can restore it on request. Reversibility is included in our service.

How do I ship my ECU to Kuwait?
Your workshop pulls the ECU — typically 30–45 minutes on the 488. Ship via FedEx International Priority to Kuwait. We flash and return within 2–4 business days.
